LunaCycle Privacy Policy

LunaCycle is designed as a private, local-first period and cycle tracker.

01

About LunaCycle

LunaCycle is a period and cycle tracking application designed around local data storage and user privacy. It is a wellness and cycle-tracking application, not a medical device.

02

No account or registration

Normal use of LunaCycle does not require an account, registration, username, email address or Google login. The current release does not create a LunaCycle cloud profile.

03

Data you can record

You decide what to enter. Depending on the features you use, LunaCycle can store:

  • recorded period starts and ends;
  • flow entries, symptoms and notes;
  • optional sex entries;
  • cycle history;
  • reminder preferences; and
  • application and privacy preferences.

Recorded entries are kept separate from calendar-based estimates. An estimated date is not automatically converted into a recorded period.

04

Local storage and encryption at rest

Cycle information is primarily stored in the application's private storage on your device. The current LunaCycle release has no user cloud account.

Sensitive preference values are encrypted at rest using AES-GCM. The encryption key is generated and protected by Android Keystore as a non-exportable key. This is a security control, but no device or software can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

05

Internet access and remote servers

The current LunaCycle release does not request Android Internet permission. Cycle data is not uploaded to a LunaCycle account or a LunaCycle-operated server by this release.

06

Advertising, analytics and sale of data

The current release contains no advertising SDK, no AdMob integration, no banner or full-screen ads and no analytics SDK. Under current practices, LunaCycle does not sell menstrual or cycle information to advertisers and does not transmit cycle entries for advertising, analytics or profiling.

07

Manual encrypted backup and import

A portable backup is created only when you explicitly request an export in Settings. Before the file leaves the app, LunaCycle encrypts it with AES-256-GCM using a key derived from your chosen password with PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256. LunaCycle does not store that password. You choose the file destination through Android's system file picker.

External destinations

If you save or share the exported backup through Google Drive, Dropbox, email, a messaging application or another file provider, that service's privacy policy and security practices apply to its further processing of the encrypted file. You are responsible for protecting both the file and its password.

Import occurs only when you select a backup file and provide its password. Imported data replaces the application's stored preferences after successful decryption and validation.

08

Android backup and device transfer

The application declares Android backup disabled. Its cycle preference file is also explicitly excluded from Android cloud-backup and device-to-device transfer rules. This statement concerns LunaCycle's current application configuration; Android platform behaviour may vary by device and operating-system implementation.

09

Biometric lock and discreet mode

LunaCycle can use Android biometric authentication or the device credential to protect access. LunaCycle itself does not receive or store your fingerprint or facial biometric template; verification is handled by Android's system biometric services.

Optional privacy controls include protected screenshots and recent-app previews, privacy-aware widget content and a discreet launcher appearance using Calculator or Notes. These controls do not make LunaCycle invisible to Android. System settings, notification settings and other operating-system surfaces may still show the application's actual identity and publisher information.

10

Notifications and reminders

Reminders are opt-in. You choose whether to enable cycle-event or custom reminders, and the notification permission is requested when it is relevant. Reminders can be disabled in LunaCycle or through Android settings.

When biometric lock or discreet mode is enabled, notification text is generic, sensitive quick actions are removed and lock-screen visibility is set to secret. Android's system notification settings can still reveal application information; if that is a concern, leave reminders disabled.

11

Recorded data and calendar estimates

Recorded data

Period starts and ends, flow, symptoms, notes and optional sex entries are facts you enter. A real cycle day continues until you record another period start.

Estimates

Next-period, fertile-window and ovulation information can be calendar-based estimates derived from available history and any cycle length you explicitly provide.

LunaCycle does not automatically convert an estimated period date into a recorded period. Fertile-window and ovulation estimates require enough sufficiently consistent completed cycle intervals. If the available history is outside the supported model or too irregular, LunaCycle can show Estimate unavailable instead of forcing an estimate.

12

Medical disclaimer

LunaCycle is a wellness and cycle-tracking application and is not a medical device. Period, fertile-window and ovulation estimates are calendar estimates. They are not measurements of ovulation, fertility or pregnancy probability.

Do not use these estimates as contraception, to diagnose pregnancy, to make medical decisions or as a substitute for professional medical advice. If you have health concerns, consult a qualified healthcare professional.

13

Children and minors

LunaCycle does not require an account and the publisher does not knowingly collect cycle entries through a LunaCycle server. Young users and their parent or guardian should consider whether the app, device privacy controls, notifications and any exported backup are appropriate for their circumstances and local law.

14

Data deletion

Because LunaCycle has no user account or server profile, local data can be deleted directly on the device:

  • open Settings → General → Reset data in LunaCycle to clear cycle history, reminders and settings; or
  • clear the application's storage or uninstall LunaCycle, subject to normal Android platform behaviour.

Reset also clears reminder configuration and refreshes the home-screen widget. Exported backup files are separate files; you must delete them yourself from every destination or external service where you saved or shared them.

15

Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect changes to the application, current practices or legal requirements. The latest update date will be shown at the top of this page.
